Allow visitors to your site to social bookmark it for later, by providing your visitors this option, you are helping create links that will raise you in search engine ranks. Not only that, but you can find free widgets that can help you accomplish this for free. Remember the higher in search results, the easier you can be found and get more traffic. Not every piece of content will be interesting for each and every user out there. Your website will get in front of a random audience from time to time. However, your job is not to please everyone, but to create content tailored to the needs of your customers. Review your h1 tags across your site, using a crawler to find them all if required. Do they all describe the page accurately? Do they use the keyword target? And do they match the title tag in what they say the page is about? Review competitive lists and other pertinent industry sources. The primary goals of most SEO practitioners are to increase rank in the SERP and drive traffic, but they are not going far enough.
Have a category description paragraph
An HTML sitemap (as opposed to an XML sitemap) is often mentioned as being useful for SEO. They certainly are if you use them wisely (and especially Bing seems to like them at times), but I like them even more for the fact that users like them a lot. When content is optimized for SEO before it goes live on the web, it will be prepared for searchers and rank higher on the SERP from the moment of publication. People pay billions of dollars a year to companies like Google for tiny little ads that do not give enough information to even attract the right kind of client. The reason that it works though is because the ads are so small. Placing ads in front of potential customers has traditionally been one of the easiest ways to introduce your product to the world, but things have changed a lot over the years. While traditional advertisements still have their place, companies no longer have to rely on a chance encounter to get their products in front of their customers. Currently more than half of searches account for mobile devices.
Aim to be in the top 3 positions, not just in the first page
For SEO purposes, you should definitely monitor the click through rates of different pages. You should be able to see the rates of specific pages on your website in Google Search Console. Your bounce rate is determined by the amount of people that click on the link to your website in the search engine result pages (SERPs) and consequently click back again to Google. A high bounce rate indicates that people did not find what they were looking for on your website. You’ve launched your new website, ready to welcome crowds of new customers. But, if no-one finds your new website, how will they see what you have to offer? One way to approach SEO is to write catchy headlines. Even just a few changes will have a significant impact on your website’s ranking. Don’t forget – it will still take time to see your hard work come to fruition! Human users are already intrigued by your title; all that’s left to do is entice them to clickthrough with your meta description. A meta description is information, more in depth than your title, that will let users know what to expect when they visit your page.
Get into Local Directories/Local Resource Lists/Review Sites
Gaz Hall, from SEO Hull, had the following to say: "Your target keywords should be in the H1 tag. Your H1 however can be different from the title tag. It doesn’t have to be – you won’t be penalised for having the same title tag and h1 tag for a web-page (after all, most CMS generate this automatically) – but varying the keyword phrasing of both can increase your chances of appearing for different search intents." The only way to reliably build links is to create amazing content, but the standard for 'amazing content' gets higher and higher every year. Once you’ve discovered your evangelists,
think about ways to nurture and encourage them. At the simplest
(and possibly most meaningful) level, find a way to thank them
for spreading the word about your company. In the earlier days of SEO, the organic search engine optimization discipline was more of a technical skill, of making sites crawlable. Then the focus switched to creating quality content where keywords were used in a natural way. Links pointing to your site help Google discover new pages on your site. It also, traditionally, is regarded as a signal of popularity. The site linking to your content is essentially telling Google they trust your content.
Analyze the competitors
The focus of many website owners has definitely gone social. I focus a lot on Social Media myself, but the reality is the social media craze has also left the SEO window wide open. The quality and quantity of links you have pointing to your domain determines your overall authority, which in turn determines where you rank for various search queries. To Google, site speed is a critical ranking factor. Google believes that faster loading pages yield better user experience (UX) which is a prerequisite for more satisfied customers. By limiting your SEO efforts to Google, you might be missing out on some great opportunities for small business growth. Once you start working on the SEO channels you need to commit yourself for the long haul as ranking first on the search pages does not happen in a day. It can take up to years sometimes and if you are lucky weeks.
Review your most important content on your site
Google won’t penalise duplicate content. Instead it will decide which version of the duplicate post should appear in search results and ignore the other. It has become a trend by SEOs to remove older content, especially older content on a news sites, where sites remove content rather than simply archiving it. There are a number of tools that let you check how many links are pointing to a site and what the authority of those pages are. Unfortunately none of them are perfect — the only way to know what links are pointing to your site is to have crawled those pages. Now, keyword stuffing or having specific phrases on the site is not enough to get your site ranked on the popular search engines. And, it’s also of no use to get links from irrelevant sites. You can get up to six sitelinks for your SERP listing, plus a searchbox if you can wrangle one. On desktop, this means that four or five times as much SERP space is given over to your listing, while on mobile, a sitelinked listing can take up the entire screen.
